Please if anyone is bored and fancies doing some random internet shopping help for me....

I'm looking for some teaspoons with some specific specs

*approximately 13cm - 13.5 cm in length but no longer than 13.5cm

*with a slightly pointy bowl - like this
https://www.smithsofloughton.com/elia-glacier-teaspoon.html (too long and handle too bulbous)
or this
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/XJ4AAOSw3TNhg6KH/s-l1600.jpg (this is an ideal bowl in terms of it's pointy-ness)

*with a handle that is flat (not 'tubular), tapered and rounded at the bottom and not bulbous and not squared off

So this handle is nice but the bowl of the spoon isn't pointy enough:

*that is new to buy and not second hand/vintage

*stainless steel

*from a reputable brand like Oneida or Elia or other known make

Drawing a blank. The ones with the right kind of length and handles tend to have rounded bowls. The pointier ones tend to come with modern, tubular handles like this which I don't want

Whyyyyy such precise requirements?

I am bored so I will look but wondering if I'm helping a mad woman.

there have been a couple of medium/psychic threads here recently
Perhaps one of those can help! 😁

It's for my granny! to replace some lost ones and she is very keen on a pointy bowl because she says it's easier to eat yoghurt and pots of thing with because you can scrape it out of the corner better. The length is because they need to fit in a draw insert so longer than 13.5cm won't fit.

@CharlotteStreetW1 the john lewis ones are nice but don't seem to show a length unless I've missed it. they look longer than 13.5 cm to me. most teaspoons seem to be 14 cm ish modern. these are design wise exactly what she's after I think. I agree the pointiness is the problem with a flat old style handle.

The M&S ones are a great shape - pointy, good handle but the length confusingly says 13cm and 17cm so I supposed I'd have to go to the shop to have a look at them - but if they are 13cm I think those may be acceptable to her...

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude the david mellor one in the link is nice but not pointy enough. I searched -the site is great and some v. nice cutlery but all the teaspoons weren't quite right - I might get some cutlery for me from there in future!

@DisplayPurposesOnly - too rounded in the bowl but thanks for looking.

Why no second hand ones? Viners have similar to what you're after.

LoctiteStuck · 25/02/2024 20:24

If you have any suggestions, please send them.

She's very much a new not second hand type person but if there was something perfect, I might be able to persuade her!

Edited

Actually I'm with Granny on pointiness and the M&S spec is very confusing!

LoctiteStuck · 25/02/2024 21:10

@Snazzysausage (loving that user name btw) the first one looks nearly perfect I think but need to have a closer look
is it on amazon? do you have a direct link please?

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut yes - not pointy enough too round but thank you for looking.

What about grapefruit spoons? Not all them have serrated edges.

Snazzysausage · 25/02/2024 22:36

@LoctiteStuck Sorry had no idea how to share a link on here! Yes Amazon, £7.99 for 12 I believe.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 25/02/2024 22:41

Have you looked in the cutlery drawer?

LoctiteStuck · 26/02/2024 18:12

Have you looked in the cutlery drawer?

what? if you mean look for the teaspoons I described as lost, that meant gone not lost in the house.

Granny is right...there's a big gap in the market for yogurt spoons

CherrySocks · 26/02/2024 19:43

Yes, you need a pointy one for the square corners.

Using the end of the handle in frustration is frowned upon.

AsTheyPulledYouOutOfTheOxygenTent · 26/02/2024 19:55

I'm absolutely with Granny on the need for pointy teaspoons. I have about twenty but only two are lovely and pointy. My favourite is a Firth Staybrite, not quite like these.
