to think switching categories in awards ceremonies is like cheating?

The Bear is not a comedy. This is the hill I am choosing to die on!
The Martian was not a comedy a few years ago. Puts the lunar into lunacy.
Catherine Zeta Jones was not "supporting" in Chicago. Queen Latifah was robbed.

I know the studios want wins, at any costs, and I'm not saying those that win didn't perform well. It still feels like cheating though. The running times and the term dramedy are used as reasons for shoehorning, when it is tactical.

I liked The Bear.
It deserves its awards for acting...in a drama.
If that meant it lost to Succession and it wasn't its turn yet, so be it.

Totally agree the bear is absolutely a drama with some laughs but also its tense as hell in no way a comedy

In fairness, it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things(!). I was just looking at the SAG awards (fashion highs and lows, I am that shallow) and looked at the winners and thought I must have missed something. It won Outstanding Comedy in the Emmys too.

I completely agree. The Bear is not a comedy. It's brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed it but it should not be in the comedy category and it's unfair to the other nominees.

I'd just like to add I'm so happy Pedro Pascal won at the SAG awards, he's the best 😍

i think it was the only way The Bear could get an award, because of the competition, from what i cant remember

The Martian is a good film. Scientifically interesting
Some humour in it.
But not a comedy.

it is all people's opinions anyway,
what do they know!

I loved the Martian - have seen it twice and read the book twice - but it should have been nominated in the drama category. See above!
