To be floored with Covid

I’d read that people were having a rough time of it with the combination of waning immunity and the virus having mutated so far from the vaccine but Jesus.

Anyone else? Misery loves company. DH helpfully brought it home, then I caught it, then DD #17. I’ve never felt so awful from a bug. Chest is so tight and full of gunk, really hurts to cough, temps of 102 every night, throat….been going since Wednesday and I feel worse if anything. I have an interview on Monday, just want to feel better.

Commiserations.

I just spent two days shivering and being unable to do a thing.

Tests positive.

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 24/02/2024 22:20

Yeah, I felt a bit ropey weds evening and test came up immediately. Don’t think I ever felt so rough

Same. Beginning to feel a bit better, but it was rough. Having said that I did cancel a meeting I had for Monday. I bet that if I hadn't I'd still be feeling awful, but now I think that maybe I shouldn't have.

Hope you feel better soon.

Ugh yes. It's like allergy - with every exposure it just seems to get worse for me. Vaccinated/boosted and still had it 3 times, each one being worse than the other, literally could not stand up straight, had to hold on to a wall.

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 24/02/2024 22:32

Same to you 🥰

Same here. I naively thought it can't be that bad any more... My lungs just cannot fill to capacity any more. A short walk floors me with breathlessness. My very bones hurt. I'm a greedy fucker but I've not even been particularly hungry lately. Sleep is terrible, I'm covered in some sort of gross sores, ugh I feel so run down and open to catching everything 3elae on top unless it improves soon!

Still it's better than the early days when I couldn't get off the sofa and I felt delirious when I did finally have to restart the school run. Actually delirious lol, like I wasn't really present in reality 😵 I honestly think I look like I've aged a year in the past few weeks.

The strain that's doing the rounds at the moment seems to be particularly bad imo.

Two friends, my hairdresser, a colleague and my acupuncturist have all had it, and been absolutely wiped out by it.

I wonder if it may be a little less infectious than other variants though. I was at the hairdresser 2 days before she tested positive and didn't get it; and we had a team meeting the day before my colleague showed symptoms and none of us caught it from him.

LamonicBibber1 · 24/02/2024 22:54

@LakieLady that's been my experience too, all my family were still around me before, during and after it, and none of them caught it. Thankfully!

I'm just coming out of the other side.

Saturday afternoon I felt a bit off. By the evening I had a raging temp, a fever, feeling cold, aching bones.

Last night woke up dripping in sweat and a huge mouth ulcer appeared. Now Tuesday and still not 100%.

Managed to get a test today and straight away showed positive.
