To only move on from someone I like when I meet someone else?

It's frustrating, does this happen to anyone else?
If I like someone and I'm rejected/it doesn't work out for whatever reason, even if I distance myself or try to move on, I will still like them until I meet someone else I like.
It's annoying, but it always happens to me, does this happen to anyone else?
I wish I could just stop liking people when they don't want to date me.

What do you mean by “like”, you mean that you still love them?

It’s normal to have some like remaining for someone you loved.

No i mean like I still have a crush/feelings/attraction, even if it subsides over time it doesn't happen instantly.

Do you think you use other people as a vehicle to validate self-worth?

This is similar to the script with men. If they start saying things like “I love you but I’m not in love with you” then nine times out of ten there is another woman on the scene for the very same reason as in your case
