AIBU to be tempted by more expensive holiday?

I’m stuck deciding between a 14 night stay at a Devon caravan site or splitting the 7 nights between two different sites in both Devon and Weymouth? Both sites are lovely.

Staying 14 nights in the same site would cost £919 and works out cheaper by £260 (spreading the two weeks over two sites would cost £1165). But I’m thinking that we’ll probably see everything and be bored at the end of the holiday if we stay in one place, and there’s attractions I want to visit in Weymouth too which are too far away from the Devon site.

I know I should choose the cheaper option as the money could be put to better use but I’m going round in circles about it! Is it worth the extra for the different location/days out? What would you do?

Can't u stay in the cheaper one and travel down on the days u want to do the expensive stuff?

I would split the holidayif you can afford to. 14 days is a long time to stay in the same place!

I've thought about it but it would be about a 1.5 hour drive! And with a toddler not sure if I should !

But an hour and a half isn't that long, the toddler may well fall asleep lol. Plus it'll be worth it for a fun day and will save money on accommodation

I would go for the split centre holiday. Driving 1 1/2 hours to see sights wouldn't be fun.

I’d do a week holiday in a caravan in England. Save your money for some days out or maybe a little weekend break later in year.

Two weeks in one place would be far too long for me, I'd definitely split it.

Rosesroseseverywhere · 23/02/2024 17:51

It sounds like you would need/want more than one day travelling to the Weymouth area - before you know it you've spent the best part of £150/200 on petrol, food for longer days etc and it's a faff.
You'd be spending the money anyway so you're as well making it easy on yourselves

Honestly, I think after a week in a caravan with a toddler I would have had enough - are you sure you want to do two?

Crikeyalmighty · 23/02/2024 17:54

Def split centre

The drive from Devon to Weymouth is a really nice scenic one and there's several places to stop off too, Lyme Regis is lovely.

This is what I'm leaning towards but can't help thinking I should be saving the money as I'd be using a bit out of savings to cover the cost. The savings aren't for anything specific, just for as and when. We did 14 days last year so worried if I only did 7/10 days this year it would feel extra short!

Definitely, we did 14 days last year and really enjoyed it. Didn't want to leave even after that!!
