Is this weird?

I arranged to take my car into the garage as there is something wrong with it. Th3 garage have had it 3 days and I haven't heard a peep?

Is this normal? Just wondering if I should call them but I don't want it to seem like I'm pestering them.

I would have rung at the end of the first day.

I would have rung at the end of the first day.

Really? Even though I took it in with nobody knowing what was wrong with it?

I would have rang them before the end of the first day and asked if they’d found the issue and when it would be fixed. I can barely manage 1 day without a car nevermind 3

Rosestulips · 23/02/2024 14:53

Ring them for a progress report?

DorothyZ · 23/02/2024 14:56

Was it booked in for the day you took it or have you just left it with them for when they can fit it in?

MissConductUS · 23/02/2024 14:57

Three days is daft to be waiting for an update. They should have rung you by now.

Sirzy · 23/02/2024 14:57

I find it stranger you haven’t called just to see what’s going on!

Mines off the garage on Monday at 8am. I'll be expecting contact at some point Monday with a diagnosis and cost. Back by close of play Monday unless it's a major problem or needs parts ordering. I certainly won't be waitng quietly until Wednesday.

toomuchfaff · 23/02/2024 15:52

Id definitely be ringing them before close Friday - some garages will shut over the weekend!

scorpiogirly · 23/02/2024 16:50

Thanks all. I called them and apparently they put the diagnostic on it and a load of error codes came up which he apparently cleared. He couldn't find an issue and has driven it around and it was driving fine. So went to pick it up and it happened again straight away. The engine light comes on and the car starts juddering.

He was outside the garage when I drive it so he then came over and was able to see for himself.

Asked him what he thought the problem might be and he said he would have to plug it in. I thought he already did that!

The error codes he can read often aren’t that informative. If the engine is shaking it shouldn’t be that hard to figure out. It sounds like a cylinder is misfiring. If the bloke at the garage can’t find the cause, take it to a dealership for that make of car.

How old is the car?

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 23/02/2024 17:58

Sometimes it's hard to diagnose the actual issue unless you can see it for yourself. Hopefully now he's seen it in action he can fix it.
