It's different things. Like recently on a night out a friend gave out to me for making a non pc joke and embarrassed me. Literally 2 weeks later same friend and same group are on WhatsApp group and the friend who took the moral high ground starts making the same joke I made that she was so 'offended' by. Friend has form for this but I didn't have it in me to call out her hypocrisy in front of group exactly like she did to me. Please don't ask the joke as the whole thread will get derailed then , it's not the point.

2nd was I said at work that some celebrity didn't age well or something to do with her appearance. And colleague starts telling me off in front of others saying I shouldn't be commenting on others appearance blah blah blah. Literally weeks later the same woman does the exact same thing about Jennifer Aniston and said she was looking old and haggard etc.

I find people love to take these moral high grounds to give them power but don't really have the values they preach. But I'm seething at myself I didn't have the balls to call them on their hypocrisy. Anybody here the same?

She is a fucking hypocrite and definitely not your friend. Just be cordial at work but nothing else to do with her, socially or online.

LindaHamilton · 22/02/2024 22:47

yea but my question is does anybody else have this problem and seethe afterwards?

I can't answer for anyone else but, no, I haven't had that problem. However, I don't make non-PC jokes or remarks. I might have done so as a child :).

Just put it behind you, seething achieves nothing except make you feel worse. Try to employ a filter on what you say from now on.

SkaneTos · 22/02/2024 22:59

Yes, I have had the same experience, at times. Not much to do about it, except seething! It is frustrating.

I do😂I know exactly where you're coming from. People are very annoying sometimes lol

I've re-read your op twice, Linda, and have answered as best I can, being honest about myself with no wish to appear that I am taking any moral high ground. If I have misunderstood your point, I am sorry you are disappointed. There will be others who totally get it.

Of course I have found people irritating at times, but I don't seethe about it. No doubt I can be annoying to some, I even annoy myself :-).

It just doesn't seem anything about which to be too troubled and can be avoided in future. I think whatsapp groups can be toxic for stirring up emotions, as can some facebook groups; people are always upsetting each other, and misunderstanding. It's easier to walk away or just not be involved in the first place.

I hope today is a good one for you. New day, new start.
