I got laid off along with most of my previous employer's workforce last year after more than a decade.
As a result I got a sizeable (but not insane) payout - think enough for a new sports car or something.
I've applied for about 20 jobs since, spent hours and hours researching, connecting, cold messaging etc. to introduce myself and I've had NOTHING aside from rejection emails or ghosting.
My CV is up to date and looks great (I think!), and I have a bunch of great recommendations from former managers on LinkedIn.
Has anyone given up a good career in favour of something they enjoy more?
Or started your own business?
Bonus points if you did it without having a hundred million to start with...
