I AM being unreasonable...or am I??

We live 2.5 hours from Gatwick. I was on my way there early this morning to pick up my daughter but due to traffic would have arrived @ 30 minutes late.
She rang me when I was 20 miles away to say she had bumped into a friend who was going right past our door so was getting a lift which would save me coming further.
I felt really annoyed having driven two hours in appalling conditions.
I turned around and came home. I was really looking forward to catching up with her after her holiday.
AIBU to feel annoyed?

At this point, id be taking dd that from now on i would not be picking her up from the airport again.

Fair enough if she made other plans and you hadn't already committed to 80%of the journey.

Yanbu. At all. I would have told her that I’d done most of the journey already. Utterly thoughtless.

She probably thought she was doing you a favour. Why would you pick your daughter up if you live so far away? That seems crazy to me. Gatwick has plentiful public transport.

I completely get why you are annoyed but she may have genuinely thought that she was saving you time.

I think this is one of those times where she may have made an incorrect assumption and should have checked your preference. Give her the feedback so that she knows to check if a similar situation arises again.
