Boss asking detailed questions about my mental health

Had meeting with boss to discuss change of circumstances which prevented me from taking on extra work I volunteered for. They wanted to know why. Said I needed to take dd to appointments. I felt I was pressured to disclose very personal information : what are the appointments for, what is the issue with dd etc. Ended up telling them that appointments were for counselling. Then they wanted specifics I tried to say it was private but they wanted to know. Then they focused on my mental health and I felt very uncomfortable with these questions. Can an employer ask these questions. I don't feel my mental health affects my work, I am always prepared and on time for work. I'm worried that this information can be used against me as they have seem my vulnerability. Am I reading too much into this. Aibu that this is not normal for a boss to do?

Too intrusive. I would have said my child’s health appointments, I don’t want to go in to anymore detail. Can you speak to your HR Rep? Not good that you felt pressured into disclosing more than you felt comfortable with.

This is totally unprofessional and you need to speak to your HR team asap.
