I gave birth recently and attended antenatal NCT classes pre birth. In the entire 6 week course the facilitator managed to deliver information about childbirth and the postnatal period thereafter without saying the word 'woman' once. Instead she said 'birthing person' to refer to pregnant women. AIBU, I couldn't take this course seriously for this reason. Given that Childbirth affects women's health, it would be important to say the woman when discussing women's health. Also it's a factual statement to say pregnant woman, given that only female sex can be pregnant AND (Boolean term) a transsexual person identify as the opposite sex would be men. Have anyone else had this experience?
