4 Year Old Sleep Apnea Tonsillitis

sorry for post in AIBU but I’m at my wits end.
my son really suffers with his tonsils. Has tonsillitis at least once a month and sleep apnea.

when he has tonsillitis his sleep apnea is even worse and so scary - any tips to help ease it?

we have a consultation with ENT at the end of this week however as he had a good night with the sleep study; they have him down as no apnea so I feel it’ll be a push to get them out!

Video it. Some consultants will accept that as enough evidence of sleep apnoea.

Recurrent tonsillitis should be enough of a reason to go on the list to get them out so you shouldn't need to push for it. My 5 year old also suffers terribly with tonsillitis, has it again at the moment and another 10 days of antibiotics. This is the 15th time in 2 years. He went on the waiting list back in August, it took almost a year for the ENT consultation itself. Its around a 2 year wait where I am for the op on top of that. I call once a week hoping for a cancellation slot. I have no tips unfortunately but do agree with videoing the apnoea if you can, might bump him up the list.

@Toddlerteaplease We’ve got lots of videos so hopefully they will take note! He has had hospital admissions with the apnea before too, so they have seen it at its worst!

@Thesoundoflettinggo sorry to hear your little one suffers so much with it too, it’s so horrible to see isn’t it. Fingers crossed they get them out quicker than 2 years!
