To think I should be taken more?

Currently 37 weeks pregnant. Last 6 days I've had intermittent fevers, night sweats. Fevers up to 38.6.. really feel horrendous at night. No other symptoms linking to infection... maybe a very mild sore throat but I've had that ever since I had covid in January

Presented to maternity triage for a different problem and mentioned the temp to a very junior doctor that was attending and he has brushed it off like it's nothing to worry about

AIBU to feel I should be taken more seriously? I feel I don't really know what to do and wondering whether I should try get a gp appointment? I'm due to give birth in 9 days and feel I'll have no energy if the fevers and night sweats don't subside by then

Definitely get a GP appt.

Be firm and stubborn explain to them you feel something is not right and you deserve to be listened to, unfortunately it's easy to be fobbed off, but if you feel in your gut something is wrong then refuse to leave until they do the appropriate tests and take you seriously nothing is worth risking in pregnancy, I had a similar experience with feeling unwell ended up I needed an iron infusion as my iron was dangerously low but it took me refusing to leave for them to even do a blood test, I was 34 weeks at the time not saying you have that but using it for context it may be absolutely nothing but a slight flu but better to be sure hope you feel better soon op xx

I'm sure everything is ok but I wouldn't listen to a junior doctor in those circumstances

Mothership4two · 19/02/2024 02:57

Go to GP and make a fuss. I had DS2 when I had the flu and had a high temperature which meant I had to be monitored throughout my labour because that can effect the baby's heartbeat. I'm sure all will be fine, but someone should be checking your baby's vital signs and you should be getting rest and your energy levels up.

Do you know the signs of preeclampsia? You need to have your blood pressure etc checked. I'd call GP and insist appt tomorrow morning.

ZebraD · 19/02/2024 05:38

Get yourself checked out asap. Need to look after yourself and be tip top. Is baby still moving well etc. trust your instinct.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
I went to the gp today and a range of bloods were done. Should hear tomorrow and have a better idea of what's going on.
Baba remains fine with movements etc thankfully
