to ignore my gut feeling on this?

My son has had an on off temperature since weds night. Wasn't worried. He gets fevers even with a cold. His temp has come down tonight and he's now cool (but very sweaty). He's had no other symptoms, just complains that he feels funny. He's a bit out of sorts. Not eating properly. There's nothing specific indicating that there's anything more sinister going on but I just have this horrible gut feeling. Never felt like this before and am wondering if anyone else experiences similar? I'm usually very sensible when it comes to illness and am not a panicker in the slightest. Not sure what I'd even plan on doing I just have this weird sense that something isn't right.

You need to call 111

OppsUpsSide · 18/02/2024 22:54

How old is he?

Acapulco12 · 18/02/2024 22:54

How old is your son? You could call 111 (the NHS helpline), which will be able to offer advice on what to do.

He's 5. Wasn't too worried until about 15 mins ago when I took the covers off him and he's drenched but with a normal temp

Temp indicates body is fighting some sort of infection with no other obvious symptoms it is likely to pass on its own? Viral maybe

Amermaidandaman · 18/02/2024 22:57

I would never ignore a gut feeling. I’ve always heard that drs would rather see lots of healthy kids unnecessarily than miss one poor kid that needed them.

I'm sure he'll be fine I have no idea what is making me worry so much

If he is drenched in sweat but doesn't have a temperature I would call 111 to talk that through. I really hope he's okay.

KnittingKnewbie · 18/02/2024 22:59

Call 111.
Better get him checked

tulippa · 18/02/2024 22:59

It could just be a virus working its way out. I sometimes sweat an infection out overnight and then feel much better in the morning. If you're worried though, call 111.

spiralshape · 18/02/2024 23:00

The days following a temp my son is always sweaty but no temp when he goes to sleep. However I would listen to your gut and call 111.

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/02/2024 23:11

I’d get him seen. Gut instinct means a lot.

WomanInBlack78 · 18/02/2024 23:18

I’m with those saying call 111. It’s probably fine but I always follow mum instinct

Katemax82 · 19/02/2024 07:18

Yes as most people are saying ring 111, hope your little man is ok
