To feel frustrated about my daughter

Context my daughter has bpd and has been admitted to pysch units now a number of times. In order to set boundaries with her the consultant and the manager of the ward said that she could not have any incidents of harming herself otherwise she would be discharged from the ward as in the past she has had incidents to avoid being discharged after being completely fine. She has now not had incidents because of this which to me shows she’s more in control then she says.

Bpd is a complex diagnosis.

But being able to refrain from self-harm for a short period in an environment with a high level of support if not the same as being able to refrain forever in your normal life.

Ultimately, no one chooses to have a personality disorder. Being angry with her is not going to help. A support group for friends and family might be helpful, because supporting her is, I imagine, really draining.
