Was away with kids for a week and asked him to do one job - clear a small room for new carpet coming tmw - came home to discover he hasn’t done it. Claims to have done other jobs - little evidence of this - and has no explanation as to why he hasn’t done it! Other than “he’s not my slave” when pushed!! Fuming!!

Take the kids and go back out again. Let the carpet issue be his problem to solve. Life is far too short to have to project manage other adults.

Good job he’s still got time to clean the room then, isn’t it? Lock his draggy arse in carpet room until he’s done. Lazy git.

Yanbu. I've been off this week with dh, I feel like I'm a nagg at times. Clearly, I'm the only one who cam see clothes need washing, bins need emptying. It's fucking boring.

If there's anything you usually do for him (cooking/washing), I'd bin it and tell him "I'm not your slave".

Do absolutely zero for him. This would give me the rage. If the carpet fitter is due tomorrow, leave it for your DH, because you have other shit to do, like be an adult.
