Has anyone else had trouble cancelling NOW TV?

I mean, they just seem a bit shady. Finally had to raise a dispute with the bank to get the payments stopped. NOW did not cancel the payments when requested. Or tried to eke out the communication by asking me the alternative email address connected to the account ... I've had the same email address forever!
And I don't know if it's relevant, but each NOW monthly payment has a different number on my online banking (eg NOW 4632), so maybe that's why the bank initially struggled to cancel them completely. The woman at the bank seemed to think that was dodgy anyway.
I know they do special offers and the like, so it's easy to keep going with them, but please just be warned that it's not easy to end the subscription when the time comes.

Or maybe it's just me?!

No it’s not you. I had a right hoo ha with them after I pressed yes I still want to cancel when I was asked 17 times cancelling online and they still took money. I will never ever subscribe again.

JMSA · 14/02/2024 19:07

Thanks. I've warned my teens not to click on ANYTHING related to NOW!

I've never had trouble cancelling, they usually offer a deal for you to stay but always found it easy enough to click through and cancel.

JMSA · 14/02/2024 19:11

Goodness, their Trustpilot reviews are absolutely abysmal.

No it has always been very straightforward for me when I've done it online. The only trouble is they keep tempting me back with really good offers.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 14/02/2024 19:37

I've never had an issue. I subscribe a couple of times a year when there is something I want to watch on Sky Altantic and just cancel when I'm done. It does the are you sure.. Are you really sure.... are you SURE you're sure thing but it's always been cancelled as requested.

gohomeroger1 · 14/02/2024 19:40

Yep never had an issue with them, much easier to cancel than Sky in fact.

ImaMumtoaboy · 14/02/2024 19:42

Never had an issue. Press cancel and that's it

MirrorBack · 14/02/2024 19:44

No, just login and cancel. Click through. I often start and end it if there’s a good series or something

SameSameButDeliverance · 14/02/2024 19:44

I had the same OP. They said I had an additional email and continued to take payment. They claimed that (non existent) email was the one used for the TV account and would only close it once I cancelled via that email.

I eventually got my money back and cancelled but it took weeks (because, how do you prove something doesn’t exist?!).

Awful company - I’ll never use them again.

Caswallonthefox · 14/02/2024 19:47

I never got as far as going with them.
I rang them up and asked a question about their social tariff, only to be completely ignored until the person on the other end got through their blurb. Then, I had problems giving them my postcode, even using the radio alphabet. I got so frustrated, I told them I couldn't do it anymore and put the phone down.
I then went with BT.
I'm so glad I didn't go with them

IMustDoMoreExercise · 14/02/2024 19:47

I have never had an issue cancelling the sports or the entertainment.

I just log in to my account and cancel.

What happened when you did that?

JMSA · 14/02/2024 20:12

A mixed bag of experiences for sure!
Thanks everyone.

It said that I didn't have an active account/subscription.
They still had no issue taking money from me though!

So you were able to watch content using that account and yet it said that you did not have an active account?

hedgehoglurker · 15/02/2024 09:12

A problem I had, was that I actually had 2 accounts, as I must have taken advantage of a deal for new customers and opened a second.

So when I logged in, my account was inactive, but I was still being charged. I eventually phoned them and discovered that the charges were for the second, still active account.

eandz13 · 15/02/2024 09:18

Yeah, I cancelled my subscription with them about 3 years ago, they still continued to take money from me for about 8 months after that. I was definitely no longer an active subscriber/user of their channel, I cancelled and deleted the app. The bank blocked their payments from being taken and somehow more with a different code still went out each month after it! 🙄 it stopped eventually though.

AmazingLemonDrizzle · 15/02/2024 09:21

Eeek. We use now for a month at a time about 3 times a year and haven't had a problem.

Vaz66 · 15/02/2024 09:25

I’ve been with them on and off for years, never had problems cancelling and am currently half way through a deal at £1 a month.

Alargeoneplease89 · 15/02/2024 09:28

I've had them on and off for 10 years and never had a problem. Are you using the correct email account? If like me, you made more than one account over the years to take advantage of the new customer offers then you may be looking at the wrong account.

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 15/02/2024 09:30

Nope, never had any issues and I've subscribed, cancelled and re-subscribed multiple times over the years.

They will offer you a deal to stay with them but you can just refuse it and cancel anyway.

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 15/02/2024 09:31

Are you sure you're using the right email address?

I've used multiple emails with them over the years to take advantage of various offers.

danceswithlawnmowers · 15/02/2024 10:06

I have had an account with them on and off for years. We use it for a month or two to watch some particular sport, or a series of something. I always make a diary reminder to cancel it immediately after reviving it. It has never once been difficult. I never remember HOW to do it, so I just Google "how to cancel Now tv" and follow the steps. Takes seconds.

JMSA · 15/02/2024 10:29

@IMustDoMoreExercise

We hadn't watched anything on it for years, which is why I wanted to cancel in the first place.

It's really tricky on the app but usually ok on the website I find
