For that awful Abdul when it's likely he's dead and they are pretty sure ? I get it if he posed a risk and he was still at large but they seem convinced he isn't...Makes my blood boil! Aibu?

Because if you think someone has fallen in the water it's a good idea to get them out. They tend to float to the top and freak people out a bit.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 10/02/2024 20:58

And if he isn't dead and offends again?

Sparklesocks · 10/02/2024 20:59

Surely the police need to be sure and explore every avenue before they call off the search?

Toadstool1985 · 10/02/2024 20:59

For his victims?

It just sounds like the easiest thing to say to stop looking for him, that he fell into the water when there is no proof of that

I live near the Thames- they pick bodies out pretty regularly
Not sure it freaks people out- they just call the police

mnahmnah · 10/02/2024 21:01

Because plenty more resources would be wasted looking for him as an alive suspect

BobnLen · 10/02/2024 21:05

He may be still at large and pose a risk, no proof he went in Thames

FabFebHalfTerm · 10/02/2024 21:05

Because that poor woman & her daughters need to know, not just 'think' that utter fucking scumbag IS dead. They're going to have enough trauma to deal with without not knowing if he's just going to turn up again.

the bastard threw the 3 year old into the ground at least twice in top of the chemical burns.

someone she knew & shoukd gave been able to trust.

its the least of things I object money being spent on

This. It's in the public interest to establish what happened.

They've already found the bodies of two men in the first few hours of searching the river. Which is pretty sad tbh.

BlackberrySky · 10/02/2024 21:08

Because it's not a great idea to leave dead bodies hanging about in the Thames. Because if they find him, we know that's an end to it. Because even if your son is a horrific human being, you probably want some closure.

Feel the authorities can't win on this one - someone on another thread was debating they drain the Thames to find his body.
🤷🏻‍♀️

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 10/02/2024 22:44

For the surety that he's bloody dead?
