Anyone read this? Tragic and fascinating. Sounds like the parents want a lot of attention on the case to get some answers

I’ve got a cousin at this school, he’s also very impressionable and a bit wealth obsessed, wondering if his parents should take him out …

A Teen’s Fatal Plunge Into the London Underworld

Wow, extraordinary something like this can happen. In these very wealthy schools, with a lower academic entry bar, sometimes this sort of culture can get a foothold. On some level he felt alone & a failure/not good enough on own terms.

Yup, I’m sure it’s not just the school but it does seem like these schools are creating / fostering a culture in which an already vulnerable and impressionable kid would not thrive

I hadn’t heard about his death before. A very sad and worrying story. I feel so sorry for his parents - they’ve lost their son, the police didn’t really investigate what happened, and the coroner’s verdict was unclear.

I can see how attending a school with that kind of wealthy culture would lead someone who felt insecure to lie to fit in, and it seems to have developed from
there.

What an odd story. I feel sorry for his parents, not know what happened.

I knew some very wealthy Londoners back in the early 00s (from Frances Holland, not Mill Hill) and it’s a weird world.

DH’s cousin ran away from Mill Hill when he was sent to board there. Although he also went to and hated Millfield and Gordonstoun… finished his school at a state school in Orkney I think.
