To make the CMS aware of his savings?

My exh currently doesn't pay maintenance, he quit his job last year and is in a self employed start up period. The CMS have said to me he doesn't have to pay at the moment due to being on UC.

Our divorce came through very recently and prior to this I transferred him a six figure sum to buy him out of our house. The house/mortgage is now in my name only.

I have now read that I could ask the CMS to look at his bank accounts and take his savings into account. However, will this be passed to the DWP? As much as relations between us are very strained, it'll only get worse if he was found to be committing benefit fraud. The only thing he pays for is ds1's school lunches. I don't want this to backfire and for him to pay for even less than he already does or for him to refuse to have the dc at all.

I could do with some advice, please. I am struggling to pay for everything for the dc without any maintenance, but I don't want to make the situation worse for myself.

Yes. Please make them aware of his savings.

The Government are bringing/have brought in new legislation to catch absent parents who try and fiddle the system. They can now take unearned income such as property etc..into account. Good luck!
