To think Mumsnet HQ shouldn't take down threads so regularly

As above, just spent a few minutes giving a poster some sound legal advice on a property thread, as had many other contributors.

The OP then asked MNHQ to take the thread down because the matter was resolved! and MNHQ took it down!!!!!

I'm on a few forums and MN is the only one to pull threads left right and centre - I think it's damn rude of MNHQ to all those who have posted.

Fair enough if there is nastiness, defamation etc.. but otherwise the thread should stand, just because the OP's issue is solved, others searching for info on a similar issue gain nuggets from old threads.

and come on MNHQ, answer!!

OP posts:

Constantly. "My husband plays golf in Scotland"
Mumsnet - "The thread was removed because the OP had privacy concerns"

There was a really interesting thread earlier that suggested converting unused churches into mosques, and that was deleted. Unless it had been started with the purpose of stirring up the more knuckle dragging posters among us (which it certainly didn't seem to be), it seemed awful to delete it. It is a beautiful idea and shouldn't have been suppressed just because some people didn't endorse it.
