Recently split with husband, I earn 20k for 24 hours per week and can not afford to pay the rent by myself on my wage so it will be me the kids and I that have to leave. Does anybody know how council properties work?

I have 2 Children 6 and 3 boy and girl, would I need a 3 bedroom legally? how does the bidding process work?

I’m not entirely sure of specifics but I do believe under 8s of different genders are permitted to share a room

Will exh not be paying towards his dc?

You can’t choose to leave because in doing so you would be intentionally homeless. You are also only likely to be able to bid on 2 bed properties as your children are under 10 and can share.

you will need to speak to your council and see what they advise and then i would recommend speaking with citizens advice or shelter

Your DC could easily share a room. You'd need a 2 bedroom flat or house.

You need to see if your wage would be topped up by universal credit when your rent is taken in to account. Suggest a visit to a benefits/rights advisor/CAB
You’d only be eligible to bid on 2 beds in many council areas. Don't leave immediately to try and apply, that would be making yourself intentionally homeless and not eligible.

Do you have family you could spend some time with to get back on your feet?
