I have a giant bred puppy well she’s 1 but still very much puppy like. Normally she’s a fantastic well rounded dog but when I have guests round she turns into a whining annoyance who’s trying to eat stuff she shouldn’t do and doesn’t normally do trying to jump up at the door what’s unusual as this has only just started to occur she never used to do this I have my niece whom she has known and loves since I got my dog but the constant whining, trying to open doors and attention seeking pacing around the room its getting frustrating currently laying in bed neice is 5 sleeping in the room next to me. I just know my dog wants to go sleep with her but neice has said no. Dog normally sleeps in with me and never have an issue but only when I have other people In at a loss Iv never come across this situation before if I put her downstairs she’s scratch at the doors till the open if I put her in the hall way she’s open nieces door waking her up just frustrated.

First of all how much prep for these situations have you done? After all, you train your dog with walking, socialisation etc but has she been trained for this?
if not rope in a helpful friend and train her that when a visitor comes she gets a great long lasting treat in her bed and that no one engages her in an exciting manner at all, espescially not when she’s in a heightened state
she’s at the age where she’ll push boundaries so it’s good to be firm
