That’s it. DD has tantrums and whinges from the moment she wakes up, until she goes to sleep. She’s just gone 3. No special needs, capable of behaving well at nursery and has no behavior issues there.
Her every sentence starts ‘I want… ‘ followed by long cries of frustration when she’s told no. She has lots of toys and books, has two loving involved parents, sleeps well, is loved and has lots of cuddles and eats a balanced diet.
she’s currently 40 minutes into a tantrum / whinging session because she couldn’t have chocolate, then it was that she wanted some junk on tv, then she wanted another snack. She’s currently in the kitchen whilst DH makes her dinner. She’s had various snacks this afternoon.
when we say no to anything she repeats and repeats the question, sometimes hundreds of times (whilst crying/ shouting/ screaming) This can go on for hours.
as she is well behaved at nursery, we are clearly the problem. We’ve tried ignoring, reasoning, understanding (you’re frustrated because you want a snack’) time out, acquiescing after a time (you can have some chocolate after your bath). Nothing alters the behavior at all.
HV said it’s ‘normal toddler behaviour’. Is this anywhere close to normal? She’s currently screaming at the top of her lungs because she no longer wants to be in the kitchen. It’s been like this since 6am.
