To be frustrated I can’t find a microwave 900w 25l+ with stainless steel ceiling

That really.

My current microwave was from Asda. Bloody brilliant, at £49 almost 4 years ago. But the ceiling started to rust and peel. It’s now shedding black powdery stuff into my food!! I’m currently still using it but covering the food all the time, but would really like to replace it asap.

I’ll have this ceiling problem with any enamel coated microwave - won’t I?

AIBU to be frustrated I cannot find ONE microwave that has 900w, 25L+ capacity and stainless steel ceiling. Preferably under £150

I actually found 2, Russel Hobbs and Kenwood, both say cavity is steel, but it’s enamel coated. Wtf.

How do peoples microwaves last decades?

Mine's stainless steel. Bought from John Lewis about a year ago.

I got one from John Lewis earlier, but had to return it as water was pooling at the bottom. Also, it was a combi microwave, kept the fan on for over a minute every time. So I returned it :(

I think the answer’s pretty obvious: you’re getting rust and water pooling problems because you’re boiling food in your microwave without a lid.

I've had 2 microwaves in the last 20 years - both built in so replacement one had to be a very specific size! Both have enamel coated interiors and neither went rusty. If you don't cover your food (like most instructions say) then you need to wipe out the interior every time you use it. Current microwave also runs a fan for a short while after use to vent out any steam so that it doesn't condense. I wipe it after every use to keep it clean.....
