Bad at chess, Scrabble and sudoku. Help!

I'm on a psych ward. I need to be able to play something to pass the time away. Despite having a first in English Literature, I am remarkably bad at most things. I can hold my own at Jack Change It but we're sick of it now and the OT is closed all weekend. Any suggestions about a game sometime normal could play with me and actually have a proper fight on their hands?

We used to play "Sevens" as a family when I was young (card game). Not complex rules.

I had to look up "Jack Change It"; we always called that "Last Card".

Gin rummy is an easy card game

After shuffling each person gets 7 cards

You need to make 2 sets of 3 & 4 cards

Either 4,4,4,4 different suits obviously then 6,7,8 in the same suit

Or 4,4,4 and 6,7,8,9

To win you pick up a card and if you need it you keep it and get rid of another of your cards

Next person does the same

Once you have your two sets then you say gin rummy just before you put your last card down

And there’s the tile version of this if you can get your hands on a set, called Rummy or Rummikub.

and if you get sick of it there’s enough tiles to start building the old style domino tracks where you line them all up and knock one down to knock them all over.

I find rearranging my tiles quite soothing. Others could be driven to distraction with the click clacking noises.
