Shocking treatment at a nursing home.

So a good friend was handed a redundancy letter today where she works. Manager unavailable for a debrief and explanation! She had to leave with immediate effect!
Absolutely no wrongdoing but home obviously trying to cut costs .
Morally it’s wrong to behave like this but is this legal to treat employees in such a shabby unprofessional way ?

Senior nurse. An absolutely amazing human being. Great people skills and very knowledgeable.

She is in deep shock this evening so haven’t asked her questions about the T& Cs .
