If you were ever tempted to be a SAHM, what did you do?

I have a 2 yo DC and currently pregnant. I work in senior management and recently I feel so tempted to stop working after maternity leave with DC2. But, DH encourages me to keep working though he earns more than me and we can live on his income alone. All my friends work full time and they say that it's a phase and I will pass through this once DC2 settles in nursery.
I have this very strong urge to stop working for couple of years but I am worried about the future especially with CoL going up and DC needing more money once they are in school for their clubs etc.
I have been financially independent after uni and I have been saving money so I don't have to be dependent on DH if I take a career break.
I really don't know what to do and if any of you have been in similar situation and what did you do? Did you struggle to get back in the workforce?

I was one after my twins were born. I had a toddler. I went back to work when the twins started school. Loved it. We always had joint accounts and family money though. Even before kids. I wasn’t dependant on him. I’d worked for a long time before having children and ‘we’ had plenty of savings, and his income was ours.

I was 43 when I went back to work, btw. Part time. I didn’t struggle. As soon as I hit about 47 though, I really noticed the doors slam!
