School trip to 'The pioneer's monuments in London'. But no information whatsoever provided on what these are.
What are the pioneer's monuments in London? Will it be interesting for kids?
They're travelling down from Liverpool for this!

I am a Londoner and have never heard anything described as the pioneer’s monuments.

ApoodlecalledPenny · 31/01/2024 21:53

Any clue on what kind of pioneers they are? New World? Women’s Rights?

I've lived in London and never heard of them! And when I googled, this post was the second result! So i think someone's got the name wrong at the school maybe?

I’ve often seen that statue - it’s lovely - but I didn’t know it was called that!

Probably, knowing our school!
Glad it's not just me then!

One pioneer or more than one?

Doublebiscuit77 · 31/01/2024 21:57

The first result was the National Windrush Monument.

I haven't either, that's why I'm confused!

When will the trip be? Windrush Day is in June, I wonder whether they will be coming down then.

HardcoreLadyType · 31/01/2024 21:59

It’s along way to come for just that, though. They must be visiting other things, as well. I once did a walking tour of Notting Hill, and there was lots of Black history included (as you would imagine).
