Did I do the right thing?

Was walking to my regular cafe for lunch. Walked past some teens having a full on fight.

One builder was trying to break it up. He succeeded. And then they all walked off together. One woman videod. Another builder from a distance said "just let them go at it. No knives involved. Just let them"

I called 101. Said what happened. They sent a car around. They asked the builders what happened. And after clarifying the injuries weren't serious the police just laughed it off with a "we were all like that as kids". They thanked me and just drove on.

You did, the builder thought they weren't armed but he didn't know that as a fact. Far too many teenage boys dying in stupid fights over nothing.

Well the police did if they thanked you. You were very vigilant. As they all walked off together, I probably would have left it (depending on their demeanor) but may have regretted it later. You did all you could.

I know what the builder meant- I've seen lots of fights (used to work in a bar) with grown men 30s-60s and they have always petered out naturally. However based on everything you see on the news, it seems younger generations are more likely to pull out a weapon over nothing - you definitely did the right thing

The police don't seem like they'll chase up on it as the officer just put it down to a teenage scrap

But I did just want to tell them.

Can't believe the police actually turned up, to be honest. You'd be waiting about 3 days round here, if they bothered come at all.

Yes you did the right thing.
