Anyone awake? Tooth extraction and bleeding

Hopebrown · 31/01/2024 03:26

I had a molar extracted at 4pm yesterday so 11 hours ago.
I cant tell if a clot has formed or not, but I can see blood in my teeth next to it and on my tongue. The hole is dark red and looks watery.
Its still bleeding but i know saliva can make it look worse.
I dont know if to put a gauze on it or if that will disturb the clot (if there is one)
Anyone any advice?

I don’t think it would hurt to gently place some gauze in there and bite down gently on it. If it’s just a little bit then I suspect it’s OK. It can take a little bit of time to settle down. The dark red hole sounds normal.

Thanks for your reply, just browsing online and found this
What does blood clot after tooth extraction look like?Well, it looks pretty much like what you might imagine, only wetter. A blood clot after tooth extraction resembles a wet red scab that slowly gets smaller as you heal.so it lookin wet is normal. I assumed it looked wet as it wasnt clotting. I feel a little better now.

The dark red hole is normal. It will still be oozing at this stage. If it’s just oozing then leave it alone (although the taste is horrible). If it’s actually bleeding freely then bite down gently on gauze. Don’t go to sleep with the gauze in though!

Thanks, I think it is just oozing. When I open my mouth it isnt gushing with blood, its just sort of there on my teeth and tongue but again could be saliva mixed in.
It was the taste that woke me and kept me worrying that it wasnt normal! Its making me feel sick. Thank u so much for replying

Yes, I hate the taste. It sounds all fine at this stage. Nothing to worry about

Yes, it’s not a nice feeling. The first day is definitely the worst in a normal healing extraction!

I was told to bite the gauze for a few hours after the extraction and got an extra one if needed. But if it is not like bleeding bleeding. As in a constant blood stream then it sounds normal. You can clean it a bit by biting into gauze or having a bit of water.
