This weekend.

Saturday-Me-went to work until 12, got home and packed and made a picnic, sorted Dds clothes, did her hair, brought her drink and things needed in bag, sorted dog things out, made dinner, took Dd to bed

Dh-made Dd toast, drove to picnic place, washed dishes, went out in evening

Today

Me-made proper breakfast for Dd-pancakes and fruit, did reading with her, made pictures with her, played superheroes with her, did yoga and dancing with her, did her hair, got her clothes. Did washing and hung out, washed breakfast things. Currently about to make a roast

Dh

Gave Dd a couple of biscuits for breakfast
Went out on his bike and to the shop to buy himself something.
Been asleep on the sofa for two hours

Taking the piss right?

How does yours compare?

This is unfair but honestly, if you don’t set standards early on this is what happens.
Im not saying it’s your fault, but you should definitely have a chat about sharing the tasks

Sparklesocks · 28/01/2024 15:03

Unfair and shitty but you need to talk openly with him about the division of labour and him being more proactive/hands on, rather than just quietly noting what he is and isn’t doing.

Its not healthy for you to hold onto this resentment. I think you need to have a word with him about it.

This weekend we've been fairly even in this house. I'm PT at work (which I think makes it easier) cos I do the majority of the home stuff anyway.

Just talk to him and say you feel he's not pulling his weight.

Wow he’s a lazy one!

Yesterday my husband made son breakfast took my him to football training then played with him in garden whilst I cleaned the house and went to physio. He then made him lunch then went to the gym whilst I played with son. We then all went and got food shop, came back and husband made us all dinner. I washed up then I put son to bed.

Today husband got up with son and I slept until 9am! I made son breakfast number 2! We all went for walk, I walked dog and husband taught son to ride his bike! Came home and husband made us lunch. I washed up, we all went to shops again to buy stuff I forgot to roast! I’m watching shrek with son and husband preparing roast (he loves cooking!) then we are going to watch Wonka! I’ll bathe son and husband will put him to bed.

This weekend DH has done it all because I'm working away.

Best thing I ever did was get a job that means I have to travel for at least a week at a time a few times a year. It means DH is fully aware of what it takes to run a house and look after a child and therefore doesn't take the piss.

Now just a huge argument with him storming around calling me a cheeky cow, because I happened to tell him why I’m a ‘Miserable cow’ because of the difference between us and the things I do and how he does nothing

Today
Me - got up late as hurt myself in a fall yesterday, had a hot bath, made my breakfast, took painkillers, made vegetable soup, lay on sofa with ipad, heat pad, cats and blanket.
DH- got up, showered, brought me cup of tea, made DC (x3 ) breakfast, got them washed and dressed, took them to beach on their bikes, went to PIL for Sunday lunch and tea. Will be back about 6 to get DC showered and into bed and school stuff ready for tomorrow. Then make us a meal and do some ironing before bed.

Leodicapriosbelly · 28/01/2024 16:48

@LuluBlakey1 Hope you feel better soon, would he normally do these things or is it because you’ve hurt yourself?

He would normally do those things and I'd do them with him - both go to the beach, both make sure DC are ready this mirning. He always makes me tea in the morning. I'd probably cook for tonight and iron DC clothes for tomorrow. He'd have to iron his own. He'd sort out DC for bed while I was cooking.

Not ideal, especially given you worked on Saturday morning.

Saturday - I took DS to football, cleared out some of the garage, sorted meals for all of us, did some laundry. DH took other DS to his sport, came back to help with the garage and did the tip trip because I hate it, helped both boys tidy rooms and hoovered the house

Sunday - I did homework with DS, more laundry, bit of tidying, took kids to play dates. DH sorted coffee for me and breakfasts, finished the garage plus another tip run, did all the ironing, plus picking up from play dates.

We've both had time to go to the gym and we'll do dinner and bedtime together tonight as he's commuting lots this week and he'll miss the kids a few times.

My husband is annoyed and stressed because I've hardly done anything today. He's annoyed with how much he has to do compared to normal. I don't care.
