It's my birthday!
I have 5 hours empty this morning, can do anything I like with me, dh and 2 children.
And I can't think of what to do?!? Not food related as we are eating later.

I'm annoying myself! I can literally do anything fun I like. I think I've got myself into some sort of decision paralysis!

What would you do/where would you go?

Geocaching?

Whaleandsnail6 · 27/01/2024 09:50

How old are your children? Mine are early teens and we'd do something like escape room, paintball, high ropes or climbing.

Geocaching?

What on earth?! 😂

Twoshoesnewshoes · 27/01/2024 09:51

Lovely walk followed by hot choc at a cafe

Cinema
Ice skating
Bowling
Shopping

cheeseyeasy · 27/01/2024 09:54

It needs to be something indoors ideally as I've got a stinker of a toothache

Mooch round the shops, nice walk in the woods, cinema with popcorn...what do YOU like doing?

Leftoversgalore · 27/01/2024 09:58

I'd sit in the garden with an amazing coffee, or walk the dogs then go to our local high street for sourdough and flat whites.

But my children are teens and wouldn't come out for my birthday with me if I paid them to!

cheeseyeasy · 27/01/2024 10:04

I could decide if it was just me, making it kid friendly is a bit trickier 🤣

Do you have an aquarium nearby? I always find them relaxing and kids love them too.

TheBayLady · 27/01/2024 10:08

How about Nothing, just do nothing. Let your children have time to just be in their own space and give yourself time to relax and pop to the chemist and buy a tube of Orajel. Why do you feel you need to be doing something?

theDudesmummy · 27/01/2024 10:09

I would stay in bed and read a book! The kids can play computer games or read. It's your birthday, just do what you want, don't worry about entertainment for others!

Ikeawarrior · 27/01/2024 10:15

Nothing. Do absolutely fucking nothing.

I'm slobbing out on the sofa on my phone this morning while similar aged kids amuse themselves. We might leave the house later if I CBA.

ilikemethewayiam · 27/01/2024 10:16

Snap! I had a nice long lie in with breakfast in bed and plan to have the chillest day ever! Why not do the same? I bet you don’t get to do it very often?

Happy Birthday 🎂🎈🎁🥂🍾🥳

waltzingparrot · 27/01/2024 10:22

Do an easy level escape room.

BCBird · 27/01/2024 10:24

Leave kids with dad, book a facial.

cheeseyeasy · 27/01/2024 10:27

Love these responses. There's this little inbuilt voice that says "it's your birthday you should be doing something great", I wonder how much social media has fucked with us.

Go out for brunch with a friend?

I'd leave the kids with dad.

National trust place for a walk and cake?

Getoverits · 27/01/2024 10:33

Get them to make u a brunch in bed . They and u will enjoy that! Get dh to get gel for tooth .
