To think customer service gets worse the more you go somewhere

I've noticed that customer service everywhere seems to be great everywhere the first time round
The more they get used to your face you get a sloppier , more careless attitude as if you don't have a choice of where to go
E.g
Food establishments, barbers,

I now rotate between my favourites so everyone sees me 1 or 2 times a year...

I've certainly experienced similar where we've had really good service the first time we've been into a restaurant, but then really bad on a repeat visit. But it's been different staff, so you can't say it was because they get careless with repeat customers. I think it's just that customer service is now a lot more variable, between different staff, so it's luck of the draw really whether you get the "good" staff or the ones they have to take on because of staff shortages!!

I think you are a bit deluded if you think they remember you tbh!

Only if you are rude & /or tip poorly the first time. Otherwise we prefer repeat custom-- it's a compliment to the restaurant. Repeat visitors usually require less management tho, they know how it works have seen the menu before etc. Are you measuring service by "time spent talking to you"?

I imagine there will be people who change hairdressers, because they become less careful the more you go to them. That’s happened to me and also, when my hairdresser left, I was handed over to the one I didnt have confidence in. Except that, I cancelled and never went back.

As for tipping poorly- I do tip, but it will depend on the service and attitude of the server. I don’t like to think that the way I’m treated will depend on the size of the tip I give and that if I don’t tip much, they will not be very friendly next time.

Yeah this. Are you nice or difficult?!

Service is like at least a polite smile, not slamming food down, not assuming how much the tip is and pocketing the couple of quid without being discreetly left it, not passing you onto another waiter who has a bad attitude when the high fliers walk in,
not nudging the dish for tips when they basically got the order wrong and you took it and paid full price because it was busy and out of politeness to save them a bollocking from the boss hovering around and only mentioning it when you leave
I'm always polite and quiet where I go and low maintenance
