The Mumsnet 2024 Annual

If there was an annual of Mumsnet (like Bunty - remember that?) for 2024 what would it contain?

There’d definitely be a a competitive undereating page called “4 cucumber slices and half a ton of tomato soup a day makes Mums ‘bursting full’”

Also a new chapter for 2024: Competitive under-heating. “How to be ‘toasty warm’ when your house is 13 degrees”.

There’d also be a ‘Mumsnetters worst fears’ chapter, that would include:

  • Having visitors over. And why it’s perfectly acceptable to leave a visitor in the living room for 3 hours while you hide in the toilet in fear
  • Having to use a tumble dryer - and why using a tumble dryer is one of the most ridiculous things a person can do
  • 6 year old boys in the ladies toilets
  • Having to feed your child chips and how to cope with the guilt
  • Someone posting on AIBU that is not an AIBU

The irony of the last bullet point….😜

Clicked on your post thinking ….there is a mumsnet annual ? I must go to a bookshop tomorrow!
Brilliant idea ! We need this for 2025. . Mumsnet Towers take note . In fact that could be the “ make”. There is always a make made from cereal packets isn’t there?
And do you remember the fashion figure on the back page with the clothes to colour in and try on with little tabs to fold over .

  • ‘Mumsnetters’ Favourite Phrases’ section
  • ‘Cyberwars: Mumsnet vs Netmums’
  • ’Mumsnet Challenge of the Month’ - different one for every month e.g. how long can you make your tiny roast chicken last for your family of 16; what’s the most creative costume you can make for your child using nothing more than 2 bin liners and half a loo roll; how to whip up a Nigella-esque feast for 11 unannounced guests with 2 tins of chickpeas and some lamb languishing at the back of the freezer

Oh, and ‘Game of Trolls’ (like Game of Thrones). Trolls compete with each other to write the most outrageous posts and you have to guess if any of the posts are actually genuine. Prizes up for grabs.

QueenOfTheKing · 24/01/2024 23:36

Quizzes such as "are your ducks in a row?"

Travel guides to the Sistine chapel and how to be the perfect house guest in Mexico...

Acapulco12 · 24/01/2024 23:41

Also adding to the games page… ‘Mornington Crescent’. Mumsnet simply wouldn’t be Mumsnet without it. Oh and a Mumsnet glossary for newcomers, to help them feel welcome e.g. for things like LTB, ‘get all your ducks in a row’, ‘naice’ etc.

I'm just here for the half a ton of tomato soup.
