The Return of The Giant MN Ads

Anyone else getting their 5 minute MN tea break ruined by giant ads that move with the text so you can't read the OP?! Literally no matter how I scroll it covers the post.

Am on laptop.

Pic of one for Sainsbury's, where I just went, and am now considering returning everything in protest. (JK)

The audacity!

@mnhq ?

It's very off-putting, isn't it?

moreismorish · 24/01/2024 15:40

It’s making the site unusable. MN sort your priorities out.

steppemum · 24/01/2024 15:44

yup.
Just abandoned a thread where I couldn't read the OP because of that stupid Sainsburys ad. It moved up and downwith the thread, so covered the op.

LordBuckley · 24/01/2024 15:45

Just use an ad blocker.

ohdamnitjanet · 24/01/2024 15:47

Yes, bloody Sainsbury’s ad is driving me nuts.

ownedbymydog · 24/01/2024 16:05

Me too!! Ugh, that Sainsbury’s ad is awful.

Screwballs · 24/01/2024 16:06

I’m a huge fan of your subject matter!

And I am desperate to read and respond to your thread but Sainsburys won’t effing let me understand the issue!

I had exactly the same issue with that bloody Sainsbury's ad! I immediately downloaded an ad blocker and problem solved :)

Download a browser extension. Ad block plus is a good shout, but there's others. You'll often need to pick country-specific blacklists as well. Personally I tend to also run an extension like NoScript or similar that blocks Javascript and can then be unblocked permanently for specific websites.

LordBuckley · 24/01/2024 22:03

I use Adblock Plus on my desktop computer with Firefox.

On my Android phone I use the Vivaldi browser, which easily gets rid of ads with no need to download an extension.
