My friend is in hospital on one to one observations. She has a history of manic depression and was admitted before Christmas. Last week, she was found hanged and resuscitated successfully. She's been messaging me this evening telling me she has a razor blade hidden in her bra and is going to kill herself. I'm so concerned, I don't know whether to phone up the hospital and let them know. She'll know it's me but I'm so worried she can't keep herself safe.

I know it's difficult, but you need to ring. You'll never forgive yourself if you don't.

Oh fuck me, what a horrible position to be in! I would absolutely ring, she might be cross with you but she will be alive. If she was my patient, I’d be so grateful to you for calling.
