To think Bluey is actually pretty shitty

I hear people raving about it all the time and we've watched a few episodes this morning and I'm kinda horrified!

First episode the kids use emotional manipulation to get dad to play what they want - why don't you love me - oh fine I'll play. So teaching our kids emotional manipulation is ok to get what they want?

Then there's one where the dad Bandit is acting like he's born yesterday and mum gets upset he's not done dishwasher and he flat out ignores her. Totally showing a respectful team in marriage.

Then there's one where mum is trying to get calm Bluey by reading a story ready for bed and Bandit it doing loud puppets and winding her up, so Bluey learns her dad isn't to be respected cos he's an idiot and he doesn't respect her mum.

Like wtf how is this show positive?

Bluey rocks!

DD does the cutest little dance when she hears the theme tune.

Watch "relax" and "Sleepytime." Two of the best episodes of television, in any genre, ever made. The show's keen observation of the reality of being a parent (and a kid) is unmatched.

Sleepytime is pure art

It's better than Peppa pig. I banned peppa pig from our house

I think it's wonderful. It's not supposed to be realistic, they are dogs. Space is a wonderful episode for how kids work through trauma and how little things to adults can be huge for kids. Also that she is blue and a girl. I was soooo glad when the kids discovered it during covid and we had less peppa pig and paw patrol. Bluey and Duggee were blessed relief.

I love Bluey especially the ice cream episode.

Dmsandfloatydress · 21/01/2024 11:49

You are clearly a Troll! What madness is this? Bluey is the most fantastic kids programme on TV!!!!! It teaches kids loads of important lessons and I love the fact that Bandit does most of the childcare and Chilly is always heading out. You are clearly 🤪

Balloontree · 21/01/2024 11:57

Yabu to slate Bluey without suggesting some better alternatives.

DC is currently watching Peter Rabbit - that rabbit is a smug little asshole that teaches children that it's fun to dangerous things. Can't stand the little fucker.

Marchbug · 21/01/2024 12:03

Sleepytime, Cricket, Relax and Babyrace are all absolutely amazing and make me 🥹. YABU for sure!

SecondHandFurniture · 21/01/2024 12:08

I love Fairies. "Are you not entertained?!"

SleepingStandingUp · 21/01/2024 12:13

There are definitely episodes where I think "nope, not iny house", for real. But that's basically any episode.

So sometimes Mom gives into them to keep them quiet (buying their husbands in the garden shop) but most of us have. So Dad isn't always the perfect husband and sometimes has to apologise. Don't we all?

I like that it doesn't just reflect on the kids behaviour - but also the parent.s. Yes Mittens Dad, telling her she's the most special person ever so she thinks the rules of the library don't apply to her!!

And it's one of the few shows with two female leads that manages to attract fans of both boys and girls.

The one where thingy has her baby early and they put her in a plastic box under a lamp and then she has to leave even thought she doesn't want to 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Toddlerteaplease · 21/01/2024 12:17

I love Bluey!! I'm 42

Toddlerteaplease · 21/01/2024 12:18

@threeblowdries I do agree with that. Especially in the one where dad had to pretend to be a toddler in the supermarket!

Santasbigredbobblehat · 21/01/2024 13:14

I find it annoying sometimes. There are great episodes, but two of my children started asking why me and their dad didn't play as much as Bluey's parents, err we do play, but we're not cartoon dog parents! The kids are a bit bratty in it.

Lesleyknopeswaffleiron · 21/01/2024 13:15

@Doppelgangers hard agree

GRex · 21/01/2024 13:26

It's a kids show, it's quite funny. If you aren't aged 3-8, then you aren't the target market so you might not like it as much as someone who is aged 3-8. It's OK to show both kids and parents not being perfect, there's actually the point of the show; nobody is perfect so sometimes everyone is having fun and sometimes things go wrong, but everyone must come together somehow either way!

Alloveragain3 · 21/01/2024 13:50

But it's an accurate depiction of what really goes on in many normal families.

This is what sets it apart from the happy clappy cbeebies (and similar) shows.

I love it for showing that we often fall short and aren't perfect and thats ok. We don't need another trite offering of "perfect cartoon parents".

And it's bloody funny.

Doppelgangers · 21/01/2024 10:43

Anyone who thinks bluey is shit needs to watch cricket and Sleepytime and then try to argue the show is not good. Like all shows there will be some episodes better than others but these two are probably some of the best episodes of any show ever written and I will not be told otherwise.

Edited

I always cry at Sleepytime. It's so stupid but I can't help it 😂
