Prescription exemption certificate

Sorry posting for traffic...
Is anyone still waiting for their prescription exemption certificate? I filled the form at the gp surgery before Christmas and still haven't heard back. I contacted my gp surgery and they said
"the exemption forms are not processed by the DR, we sign and they are sent off to a government centre. If you google the number and ask that department the progress"

I managed to find the number online. When I called they said we can only check if we have received your application form from the post. She told me that it's all done by hand and you can't apply online. She took my details but couldn't find anything. She told me, the machine scans the form so it may not have picked up my unusual name. I was told it may have been lost in the post and to resend another form. I was also told there was no backlog.

I called my gp surgery incase they forgot to send the form. They said they did and that they will have a backlog. I told them they said they didn't have a backlog and she goes "well they must have as we've been getting a lot of calls from people chasing up"

I don't want to keep paying for multiple medications every month if I'm eligible for free prescription.
Anyone else still waiting, online says it's supposed to take 10 working days?

You need to get a receipt for the prescriptions you paid for while you are waiting for your exemption certificate its called an FP57 but you can only get one at the time you pay you cant get one retrospectively when you have your certificate take your FP57 receipt and proof you were entitled at the time the prescription was collected to any pharmacy. The pharmacy will issue your refund directly.

I got mine within a couple of weeks. Worth checking with the pharmacy because they might have it in the system before you get the physical card

Also here to say ask for an Fp57.

I applied for one on 18/12/2023 and it arrived between Xmas and NY. I filled it in and posted it myself. I also got the exemption form for a refund which I’ve now received back. Can you ask for another application form and post it yourself?

The pharmacist gave me a receipt but I can only get a refund within a certain time frame. I will probably have to fill in another form and probably post it myself rather than the gp surgery.
