Bit of a pants evening

Had plans for a few weeks to meet my friend for shopping and dinner. Had agreed where to meet and what time earlier in the week.
First she says earlier today she might have to change the time because she has a phone call with her dad, Okay fine I understand family stuff but she didn't tell me how much later. Then about 1.5 hours before we were originally going to meet she says she wants to go earlier and shop a bit on her own, Okay fine. I meet her and she immediately complains about how tired she is and how worn out she feels. Then is just grumpy to go round the shops with. It wasn't enjoyable shopping. Complains about 5 minute wait for a restaurant table. Then over dinner says she was going to cancel our plans but is glad she didn't.
It just all felt a bit rubbish and had been an evening I'd been looking forward to all week.

That’s very irritating. Some people are just moaners. I try to avoid them tbh!

Sympathies, that does sound a bit rubbish. I'd feel the same as you.
Is she a good friend normally? Sometimes people don't really tune in to how they might be making someone else feel.

I have a mate like this. Glass half empty…

Awww , I’m sorry that happened to you. It’s hard when you are looking forward to something and someone else ruins it. Maybe your friend had lots of family drama and maybe should have cancelled, rather than bringing you down. Hope you have a more positive week.

Maybe your friend is struggling at the moment. Have you asked if she is okay?

Ducksinthebath · 19/01/2024 22:55

Very much sounds like your friend is struggling. Stop taking it personally and be a good friend.
