DPD error caused chatbot to swear at customer - BBC News

DPD have a chatbot. It was convinced to swear at a customer and then it created a Haiku to describe how bad it thought DPD was.

AI has a lot of potential. But this is just another example of when it can malfunction.

Doesn’t seem like a malfunction to me. Bloody brilliant 😆

Come on - the user was specifically coaching the AI to do that. That is not a reason not to use AI - it is a reason not to be a media whore and reporters thinking that Twitter and Reddit threads make a worthy news story.

Excellent! Much better than the usual experience of ending up swearing at the useless bot.Grin

It's a reason to find a different name for it, and to be very careful about what you use it for. The $1 Chevy in the BBC story is funny... though I somehow doubt the deal was honoured.

Like I said, AI has its uses.
But it can go wrong for a company.

We could use AI for customer service. But we like having humans at the other end.
