To ask if mlm friends usually get in too deep or it fizzles out?

I have a friend who has started selling the lumi spa and other products. I was concerned so I googled and I think they are mlm. She is a bit vulnerable at the moment and I'm worried. Should I say anything or just wait for it to fizzle out?

I have other friends who sold that tropic skincare thing and that just fizzled out so I'm hoping the same happens here.

Say nothing.
You'll be just told you're jealous of all the money she's going to make.
Get ready for the hard sell which will be arriving imminently.

I doubt she will listen to you. I would wait for it fizzle out.

A friend started selling Arbonne and reading her announcement on social media I thought she was going back to school, or opening a shelter.

It didn't specify but it was a huge flowery statement about bravery and support.

I only realized it was Arbonne because I read the comments.

Lots of people commenting "welcome to the family".

Just wait. Also be prepared for her to try to get you to buy alot or if mlm try to get you to sale under her.

I have a friend - or acquaintance- who seems to jump from one thing to another. For a while all she would post about was Juice Plus, so many social media posts. Then one day it just stopped suddenly. A few days later, she was Body Shop obsessed. Every damn product would save your life, she said.
To give her credit, she never pushed it onto people via private messaging. But it was relentless.

QuizzlyBears · 19/01/2024 16:07

Leave her be but make your stance clear early on that you’re not interested!

justaboutdonenow · 19/01/2024 16:17

I've seen a few people on my FB friends list doing Scentsy & Body Shop, but they've all fizzled out within a year when they realise no one gives a shit.

ManateeFair · 19/01/2024 16:18

She will almost certainly lose some money, but yes, it will fizzle out, probably quite quickly. Don't buy anything off her, though.

Winter3000 · 19/01/2024 16:27

She will lose money and be stuck with a load of crap that she hasn't been able to sell.
She'll be looking to sell her shit to you too.

I have an ex-work colleague who is DEEP in the Body Shop MLM. Virtually every post is about it. I tend to have her on a continuous 30 day mute!

Back in the day, another friend used to lurch from MLM to MLM. She'd rave about something for a month or two, then never mention it again. Then she'd be onto something else.

One of my friends disappears to Isagenix for a few years. She even had her kids involved. Finally she has seen the light.

Might be worth unmuting that friend to see the fallout from the new Body Shop owner announcing that they are shutting down the MLM imminently...

Fightingitoff · 19/01/2024 17:26

I’ve had one of two friends do this and it didn’t last long.

Well, I had to go and look! And you're right! Big drama!
