8 weeks pregnant with DC2 and have a hacking cough and fever of 39/40 the last three days. Taking paracetamol every 4 hours and called midwife but they kind of just said it's fine take paracetamol and fluids.
As a researcher I know that in the first trimester a prolonged increased body temperature (eg fever) for several days increases the chance of neural tube defects. I'm just a bit annoyed that this isn't being taken seriously - or do you think I'm being unreasonable and a bit over the top?
