To not dislike Amanda Holden any more

Lighthearted
No I don’t know her personally but I’ve never really liked her. She always seemed full of herself. Just finished watching Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job and I’ve really warmed to her she’s actually very funny and self deprecating. She’s very sweet to Alan too.

Same here ! I watched ( binged ) second series, then gone back and watched first . Finished an hour ago. See both in a very different light. Both seem like nice people 😊

leftoverss · 16/01/2024 20:58

I don’t like anyone that’s been on X Factor / BTG 🤣

wellhellohowstheweather · 16/01/2024 21:06

I served her a few times years ago when I worked in hospitality - she was honestly just the loveliest person.

dontdillydallytoolong · 16/01/2024 21:18

My husband and I loved this show. They are both hilarious and seem very close friends. You are right, she certainly doesn’t mind laughing at herself.

Couldthiswork · 16/01/2024 21:18

I love Amanda, I listen to in heart and she’s so funny and self deprecating 😊

Chocolatelover13 · 16/01/2024 21:21

YABU. She’s annoying as hell

Unwisebutnotillegal · 16/01/2024 21:22

I can’t even hear her name without hearing Joe Lycett saying “Amanda Holden- Fundamental knobhead”. 😂

CaramelMac · 16/01/2024 21:22

I’ve never watched BGT but I’ve always liked her, I remember her as Miss Titley on The Grimleys.

Aww, I was just thinking what a lovely thread. It's nice to see women appreciating another woman. Then I refreshed and saw your post. Naughty Chocolatelover13! 😜

Squeaky2023 · 16/01/2024 21:26

I like her; she doesn't take herself seriously and seems like a laugh.

Beetlebumz · 16/01/2024 21:30

Er no. I find her very abrasive and grating.

TulipTuesday · 16/01/2024 21:30

I’ve always liked her. She seems a right laugh, doesn’t take herself seriously and I reckon she would be a good friend.

Yes, that was so different from how she's been seen in recent years - she had a Brummie accent and I think Noddy Holder was in it?

Guavafish1 · 16/01/2024 21:39

I like the program in Italy with Alan Carr.

MoonWoman69 · 16/01/2024 22:04

I can't stand either of them to be honest! That show would be my worst nightmare. I've never liked her since she used Les Dennis to trample all over to get herself a career. I don't like that type of behaviour 🤷🏼‍♀️

Topicsdujour · 16/01/2024 22:27

Yes! I always thought she seemed so loud, full on and with a booming laugh. Someone that would probably really intimidate me in real life.
However, I listened to her on a podcast a few years ago, possibly ‘happy mum, happy baby’ and she came across so lovely. Talked very openly about losing her little boy and it just showed a completely different side to her. I now think she’s probably someone I’d really like in real life!

NOTANUM · 16/01/2024 22:35

She was right about Philip Schofield!

trussedchicken · 16/01/2024 22:37

I used to think she was possibly a bit of a knob. But my car radio has broken recently and only seems to pick up Heart. So have been listening to her in the mornings on my commute. I quite like her and was saying so at work the other day. I misjudged her. Sorry Amanda. Also listened to her on Myleene Klass' podcast recently and she came across very well.

Butterflytown · 17/01/2024 08:47

I had never watched anything with her in, but my impression was that she was a bit full of herself. But I stand corrected. My impression of her has completely changed from watching the Italian job. She comes across as funny, loyal, kind and a good friend. I actually thought when I was watching it that it would be fun to be friends with her. I still find it mad that she was married to Les Dennis though!!

ghrubnide · 17/01/2024 17:48

I have never met her so this is 3rd hand but on of my friends deals with lots of celebs professionally and has nothing but nice things to say about her, says she is genuinely lovely.
She seems to have a very loyal friendship group as well, Angela Griffin, Sarah Parrish and others.

MadameCamembert · 17/01/2024 17:50

I can swing between liking and disliking her and be back at the start again within a second. I think I’d like to dislike her but don’t. Or maybe I do. I just don’t know.

Inextremis · 17/01/2024 18:05

I happened across her as a contestant on Cilla's 'Blind Date' a day or so ago (on YouTube). She was - at the time - a drama student, and so very very young! Rather sweet :) Girl done good.

StellaGibson2022 · 17/01/2024 23:49

I agree OP! I was exactly the same and have now changed my mind completely.

I need an Amanda and an Alan in my life!

Me too! I totally misjudged her.

She's got a figure to die for too
