To be worried about getting pregnant from this?

I’m really sorry for the TMI from this post and I promise I’m a regular user and have just name changed for this post, but I’m wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the likelihood I could get pregnant from this. And I know I could get pregnant, I’m just wondering how likely.

DH and I quite drunk on Friday night, started messing around. We always use condoms as birth control and never had a problem. I think I was around the end of the ovulation days in my cycle. DH ‘finished’ outside of me after we’d messed around doing other stuff (I still had tights + pants on for reference here so not worried about getting pregnant at this point), but about 5mins afterward he and I had brief penetration. He didn’t finish and says he wasn’t even close to finishing because he had done so earlier in the evening and it wasn’t for very long - think 1minute or less. How likely am I to have gotten pregnant from that interaction? I’m panicking as we’re not usually stupid, and I know I was past the point in my cycle where emergency contraception would work.

Very unlikely but possible. Depends on how much you don't want a baby. Too late though now?

HarrysChild · 16/01/2024 14:01

you may just about be within the 120hr for EllaOne. Probably unlikely to be pregnant but the fact he had already got some sperm hanging about from an earlier ejaculation, i would take it unless being pregnant wouldn’t be the absolute end of the world. Edited to add - you could still get a copper coil potentially even if you have ovulated.

@Didimum yep, I agree too late now! But very unlikely is what my rational brain is saying (and DH pointed out too, although I know it is possible.

A baby would be very unexpected. Not a disaster but not on my plan right now. Can’t really even begin to consider it tbh.

@HarrysChild it only works to delay ovulation though, and I’m 99.9% certain ovulation had happened, so I don’t think there’s any benefit.

That's risky enough to need to take action if you don't want to have a baby.

I think I just have to wait it out and hope and never be so silly again, whatever the outcome. First real fuck up in 10 years!

But there’s no action to take, or I would have taken it. Emergency contraception only works if you haven’t ovulated. I had. I’m just doing that thing where I’m looking for reassurance to something no one can guarantee!

the copper coil works even after ovulation, and is the best emergency contraception, if you are very worried

embarassedandworry · 16/01/2024 14:08

@HarrysChild sorry, I should have said - I can’t have the copper coil. Thank you so much though 😊
