To think it was unkind for my husband to say my dad has never told a joke

My husband was talking about my Dad. He said he has no sense of humour and that he 'has never told a joke in his life'.

AIBU to think this was an unkind thing to say about my Dad?

For the record, my Dad is not someone who cracks jokes. But he is enthusiastic about life, interested in people, and he laughs at things (in a nice way).

That's total nonsense. I never heard my dad tell a joke but he enjoyed a laugh and had lots of longstanding friends and overall was a very pleasant person. Last thing you need in a dad is a joke teller. Seems a strange comment but not worth bothering about as you know your dad and as long as he is a good one who cares about his jokes. People who regularly tell jokes can be very tiresome.

'Telling jokes' is for stand up comedians, not normal people in conversation. Daft thing to say. I bet your DH's 'jokes' are often far from the hilarity factory he perceives them to be!
