To accept £150 for a wayleave agreement?

A company called Sherwill Drake Forbes advised me I could be eligible for compensation for cables running under my property (true fact, we have an electricity station opposite our back garden). I asked them to look into it and they have now offered me £150 if I sign a wayleave agreement.

As the compensation is not very high, is it worth binding myself with a legal document? Looking for advice re wayleave agreements as I have heard they can decrease the resale value of a property...

is that a one off payment? for how long a lease? you can usually negotiate an annual payment or a one off payment. you'd probably be better going to the electric board direct and cutting out the middle man.

Absolutely don’t sign. Employ your own agent, they should cover the cost of the agent.

Hell no, that seems like a derisory amount! Definitely check with the company that owns the cables. Wayleave agreements can be worth a couple of percent of the property value, so be very sure what you’re doing before you sign anything. £150 to sign away your rights is pittance!
