Can anyone help me with what size curtains I need?!

Moving house and I'm exhausted with baby and my brain is fried.

Living room window is 230cm width x 103cm drop (90.55 inches x 40.55 inches)

Bedroom is 177cm x 102cm (69 inches x 40.16 inches)

DD's nursery is 117cm x 102cm (46.063 inches x 40.16 inches)

What length curtain poles do I need for each? I would like the curtains in the living room to be floor length, same in our bedroom and just below windowsill for nursery. What size curtains do I need for each room? Are the measurements they show online per curtain or for the pair? I would like some kind of pleat in them instead of them being pulled flat if that makes sense.

Please help a puzzled tired mum out?! X

I've always worked on the basis that each single curtain should be the width of the window. That will give you some pleats

How far past the window you want the poles is down to your taste. I like to see as much window as possible so my poles sit over by around 5".

What style of pole are you having? Do you have a photo of the relevant windows?

If you haven't moved in yet, I wouldn't order curtains until you are in and can measure and measure again. You can tack up a sheet as a temporary curtain if needed.

Generally curtains are full width of window and the drop either to windowsill , above radiator or floor. Headers usually have three levels so there are a few inches adjustment there. Pole or track length will depend on style and how easy it is to fix up - you may need more overhang more to allow for corners or bay shape, and either side of window width.

Double or 3x window width is what you want for curtains to have lots of pleats

I used to sell curtains and also make my own. My advice would be if the poles are already in place, to measure the entire length, and the drop from where the hook goes into the pole to the floor. If you want them to 'puddle' a little bit on the floor, allow an extra couple of inches to the length. If you haven't already got the poles, then put them as close as you can to the ceiling, this makes your windows look longer, and the room higher. I usually aim for about 4 inches from the ceiling so that you have room to screw them into place. Measure the width of the window, and add between 9" and 12" either side. So if your window measures 100", then you would add 18" or 24" to that measurement, depending on how thick the curtains are that you want to buy. To make your curtains nice and full you should allow 2 1/2 to 3 times the length of your pole. As for buying online, it often says, fits windows from for example, 60" - 84" wide, so that you know the curtains will fit. If in doubt, drop the company an email or do an online chat before you order. Hope this helps.
