Siblings and films

This is (somewhat) lighthearted,

but does anyone else’s children when they watch a movie constantly have the ‘that’s me’ ‘you’re her’ ‘I’m that girl and you’re the other girl’ bickering. I’m bloody sick of it every time we watch a movie. They’re just characters. You don’t have to pick out which character you are in the film every time because it always ends in tears when they each want to be the coolest/prettiest one.

Im especially irate today as they are describing the whole film with ‘that’s you getting on the plane’, ‘that’s me doing that dance’ ‘that’s us doing the race’

AIBU to throw a pillow at them on the other end of the sofa next time they describe the movie as if they are the character? It’s an every day occurrence 😂

Try and find the funny side of it if possible. Me and my sibling used to do this. As the youngest I was always the boy and she was always the girl lol.

Devilsmommy · 12/01/2024 16:41

Blimey I'd forgotten about that but yes me and my sisters did this too😂

Oh man, my older sister and I used to do this to The Sound of Music when we were kids. And I'm 44.

That's how long this annoying sibling behavior can go on for 😂

In fairness I was always Gretl and she was always Marta, but we used to act out the scenes over and over.

Much better than my kids who insist they are any character that has their name. Cue upset from dS2 who was complaining at me that he didn't want to be a baddy in Stranger Things. I had to tell him very firmly that "you are not him and he is not you!!!" - FFS I feel your pain.

YABU to call your child Vecna 😁

The other day one of them insisted on being Julie Andrews. But Julie Andrew’s in a role where she was 55+ years of age. That was an argument between 2 of them. I wish it was just ‘oh she’s got blonde hair like me’ 😂

Hahaha why not call him Vecna? A totally ordinary name 😂

My sister and I used to argue over which one of the orphans from Annie we'd be as well.

verabarbleen · 12/01/2024 18:04

😂 me and my younger sister always used to say your house /my house or your car /my car as we walked by . As the oldest mine were usually the best ones 😁

verabarbleen · 12/01/2024 18:05

Oh and I always made her the servant girl when we watched a little princess and I was Sara!
