Are free online courses worth anything?

I have Early years qualifications, a degree and teaching qualification. I would like to move in the direction of working more with children with SEN. I can’t afford to do a masters and have been looking at courses online, which I could do part time, between working and my dc. They often give a certificate, but I’m guessing don’t count for anything in employment? Some of the courses seem really interesting and quite comprehensive, would an employer see this as an advantage, that I’ve actively chosen to study different areas in my free time? Or would it count for nothing?
Does anyone know how I would get into the area of Sen and child psychology?

Have you looked at courses offered by the OU? You could do them while you are working.

What roles are you interested in working in?

You are a qualified teacher already. There isn't a huge surplus of people wanting to work in SEN schools - I would have thought you would always have a good chance of getting a role.

Op I have done the free ou courses on autism and adhd, I’d recommend them.

but I’m a mum rather than a professional.
